Making an Appointment

Call Student Health (703-993-2831) during open hours. Based on your health care need, staff will schedule your appointment as appropriate. Telehealth appointments and in-person appointments are available.

To schedule an appointment for required immunizations (vaccinations), call the Immunization Office (703-993-2135). Visit Immunization Appointments for scheduling details and more information.

Appointment Basics

Have your Mason ID or photo ID available.

Before your appointment, log into the online Patient Portal & complete required forms. 15 minutes before your appointment time, log-in to complete check-in. For in-person appointments, check in once you arrive.

Have a list of your current medications.

Your healthcare provider will ask you about your personal and family medical history and if you have any allergies. Not sure? Check with your parent/guardian before your appointment.

If you are 10 minutes late for your appointment, it may need to be rescheduled. Read the No-Show fee page for details about missed appointments.

If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian will need to give written permission (consent) for medical care.

Canceling an Appointment

We understand that sometimes you may need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Patients should contact Student Health to cancel or reschedule an appointment at least 4 hours prior to the appointment time.

There may be a No-Show fee assessed if a patient misses their appointment and/or does not cancel their appointment at least 4 hours before the appointment time.

How to cancel

  • Call Student Health at 703-993-2831 to cancel or reschedule during open hours. You must call for appointment rescheduling.
  • Email shsinfo@gmu.edu to cancel an appointment only.
    • Include your name, G#, and date/time of your appointment
    • Include the words ‘cancel appointment’ in the subject line
    • No additional information is needed in the email
