Student Health Services

Physical Exams

Students must call 703-993-2831 to make an appointment for a physical exam. Student Health Services provides routine physical exams for all students, including gynecological health exams. We also offer physical exams to students who are nursing majors, ROTC, athletes and for Mason sports. There is a fee for a physical exam.

Students who need a special type of physical or who need a specific form completed must bring the form to their appointment. This helps ensure Student Health can complete the physical exam and form.  We recommend you schedule your appointment well before any deadlines to ensure your form and requirements can be completed.

Student Health Services may not be able to conduct some employment or pre-operative physicals. We do not conduct physical exams for the Department of Transportation or Motor Vehicles, U.S. Immigration, police or fire departments, or scuba diving.

Call to ask questions about whether Student Health can perform your required physical exam.

Mason Recreation Sports Physical

Routine Physical Exam

A physical exam is a form of routine, preventive healthcare. It can promote well-being and good health. Your healthcare provider will talk to you about health and wellness topics related to your age and risk factors. They will update your personal and family medical history. A physical exam will generally check your:

  • Blood pressure
  • Heart rate
  • Respiration rate
  • Temperature
  • Basic vision
  • Reflexes

Your provider may order lab tests to screen for diseases or other health issues.  There are fees for lab testing.

Students who have the Student Health Insurance Plan can get an annual routine physical exam, the physical exam venipuncture fee, recommended vaccines, and club sport physical exam at no cost at Student Health Services. This is covered at 100% by the health insurance plan as listed in the details in your plan summary of benefits.
