Physical Exams
Call 703-993-2831 to schedule an appointment for a physical exam. There is a fee for a physical exam. Student Health Services offers physical exams to students who are nursing majors, ROTC, athletes and for Mason sports. We also provide annual physical exams for all students, including gynecological health exams.
Students requesting special physicals or who will need a specific form completed must bring the form to their appointment to make sure Student Health can complete the physical exam and fill out the form. We recommend scheduling your appointment well before any form deadline to ensure your form and requirements can be completed.
Student Health Services may not able to conduct some employment or pre-operative physicals. We also do not conduct physical exams for Department of Transportation or Motor Vehicles, U.S. Immigration, police or fire departments, or scuba diving.

Mason Recreation Sports Physical
Call to schedule an appointment for a sports physical. To help your appointment go smoothly:
- Arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment time
- Fill out your section of your physical form before you arrive
If you arrive late for your scheduled appointment, it may need to be rescheduled for another date. Student Health Services does not offer same-day sports physicals.
Routine Physical Exam
A physical exam is a form of routine, preventive healthcare. It can promote well-being and good health. Your healthcare provider will discuss health and wellness topics with you related to your age and risk factors and update your personal and family medical history. A physical exam will generally include checking:
- Blood pressure
- Heart rate
- Respiration rate
- Temperature
- Basic vision
- Reflexes
Your provider may order lab testing to screen for diseases or other health issues. There are fees for lab testing.
