Laboratory Services

Student Health clinics have an on-site laboratory that provides screening and testing for students. Lab services are performed by a licensed medical technician. Tests not performed in our lab are sent to LabCorp.

Lab tests may be ordered by one of our healthcare providers or a student’s private doctor may also order testing. Call to set up an appointment for lab work.

Common lab services include, but are not limited to:

  • Titers (blood tests)
  • Glucose tests
  • Mono test
  • Pregnancy test
  • Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing
  • Strep tests
  • Urine tests
  • COVID diagnostic testing

Lab Fees

There are fees for all laboratory services performed at Student Health. Payment is due when services are provided.

Laboratory Processing Fee is added to all tests sent to LabCorp or the County Health Department for processing and handling of lab specimens. This fee is not for the testing. The Laboratory Processing Fee is not usually covered by insurance.

Tests sent to LabCorp from Student Health are billed at “whole sale” prices to students who self-pay at Student Health.

Students may choose to have LabCorp bill their health insurance for lab work sent to the facility. If you would like your health insurance to be billed by LabCorp, you must bring your insurance id card to your appointment. Upload your insurance card information to the Patient Portal Insurance page before your visit.

  • If you choose to have your insurance billed for labs completed at LabCorp, the fees charged will be higher.
  • You will receive a separate bill from LabCorp. This will be discussed with you at the time of your visit. Student Health Services does not file claims to insurance companies.
  • You are responsible for any unpaid balance or claim denied by your insurance company. Student Health cannot guarantee payment by your insurance company.
  • We recommend contacting your health insurance company prior to an appointment to ask about your coverage for lab testing or screening.
