It is in your best interest to first seek treatment at Student Health Services (except in an emergency). By utilizing services provided by Mason, medical cost will be contained and it will help keep premiums at reasonable rates. It is free of charge to be seen by provider at Student Health.
You may go to any doctor or provider you wish, but it is recommended that you use a “preferred care” provider, because the insurance will cover 80% of the care cost. If you see a non-preferred care provider, only 60% will be covered. Do not forget the annual deductible. The insurance company will start to reimburse you only after you have met your deductible.
The Aetna Find a Doctor tool will help you locate doctors, hospitals, after-hours urgent care facilities, dentists, specialists and pharmacies that are preferred care providers.
