Dental Care

The health of your teeth, mouth, and the surrounding structures (“oral health”) is important for your overall health. Good oral health improves a person’s ability to speak, smile, smell, taste, chew, swallow, and make facial expressions.  However, oral diseases, from cavities to oral cancer, can cause pain for many people.

Good self-care, such as brushing with fluoride toothpaste, daily flossing, and professional dental care, is key to good oral health. For more information about oral health, visit Healthy People 2020.

Finding Dental Care

If you have health or dental insurance, contact your insurance provider to help you find a local dentist. Ensure the dentist you select accepts your dental insurance.

If you do not have insurance, you can ask a dental care provider about their self-pay rate for the service you are looking for. To locate a dentist use a local business directory or an online search to help find a nearby dentist. Always use a licensed dental provider.
