When is the pharmacy open?
The pharmacy is open during clinic hours, except Saturdays.
May I pickup prescriptions on Saturday?
On Saturdays, when the clinic is open, you may pickup filled prescriptions even though the pharmacy is closed.
What types of medications does the pharmacy provide?
Medications dispensed include, but are not limited to:
- antibiotics
- antidepressants
- medications for colds
- medications for upper respiratory infections
- birth control pills
When can I pick up my prescription?
Usually, prescriptions ordered before 4:00 pm will be filled the same day and can be picked up after 4:00 pm. Prescriptions ordered after 4:00 pm will be filled the following business day and can be picked up after 4:00 pm. Prescriptions will NOT be filled on Saturdays, as the pharmacy is closed, but the clinic is open to pick up filled prescriptions.
I have a prescription from my doctor at home.
Can I bring it to the SHS Pharmacy to be filled?
The SHS Pharmacy does not accept prescriptions from outside health care providers. You may schedule an appointment with one of our health care providers, who will order the prescription at our pharmacy. We can also provide you with a list of local pharmacies for your prescription if our pharmacy does not carry the medication.
I need to refill my current prescription from the SHS Pharmacy. How can I refill it?
Request your refill as soon as possible, at least 48 hours before you need your medication.
If there are refills remaining on your prescription, just call SHS at 703-993-2831 and speak with the receptionist. Refill requests received before 4:00 pm are usually ready that same day. Refill requests received after 4:00 pm will be ready the following business day. You may also stop in and request a refill in person. If you do not have refills, you will need to schedule an appointment with one of our health care providers for a new prescription.
How much will my prescription cost?
The cost of medications in the Pharmacy ranges from $5 - $25. Prices are usually less expensive than outside pharmacies.
How can I pay for my prescription?
Prescriptions must be paid for at the time of pickup. Patients may pay using Mason Money, cash, credit card (VISA or MasterCard), or personal check.
I have health insurance. Isn’t my prescription covered?
The SHS Pharmacy does not accept insurance, including the Mason Student Health Insurance. You will receive a receipt after you pay for your prescription which you may use for insurance reimbursement purposes.
