New Student Questions

Welcome to Mason, we are so glad that you are here!

Student Health Services is here to help Mason students with health concerns they may have.

We have a few helpful suggestions to help your transition into Mason be as smooth as possible . . .

Medications: Bring your medications, and prescriptions with you if you live on campus. Understand what each of your medications are for.

Glasses: Bring your glasses as well as your contact lenses.

Immunizations: Submit your compete immunization record form on time.

Food: Visit our nutritionist or one of our health care providers if you have questions about what you should eat while at Mason or if you are on a special diet. Please review our information regarding How to Avoid the Freshman 15.

Ongoing Health Concerns: If you see a healthcare provider for an ongoing health concern, please schedule an appointment with one of our providers to see how Student Health may be able to help you.

Insurance: Please carry your insurance card. We do not bill insurance at Student Health, but you may need it for lab work or at another healthcare facility. If you need insurance, you may be able to purchase the Student Health Insurance.

Confidentiality: Care at Student Health is confidential.

Healthy Lifestyle: Student Health can help you learn how to manage your health care and how to make healthy life choices.

General Medical Supplies:

  • digital thermometer
  • Band-Aids for small wounds and blisters
  • gauze and tape for larger wounds
  • ACE wrap for minor sprains
  • ice pack
  • heating pad
  • antibacterial soap to clean wounds
  • scissors
  • tweezers
  • nail-clippers

 

Over-the-Counter Medications:

  • fever and pain reliever
  • decongestant
  • antihistamine
  • antacid
  • anti-diarrhea medication
  • cough suppressant/expectorant
  • antibacterial cream
  • anti-inflammatory cream
